Phoenix African Serval

Phoenix is a male African Serval found by California Department of Fish & Game in the City of Temecula back in May 2008. We approximate his age was around 5 years old. With no background to go off of we can only guess that Phoenix was someone’s illegal pet that was either set free to fend for himself or accidentally got loose. We immediately took him to the vet to undergo a physical to make sure there was nothing wrong with him other than knowing that he was yet another tragic statistic to the declaw. In making arrangements for Phoenix to get his first reconstructive surgery done we noticed a bulge in one of his shoulders. The x-rays revealed that he had a 6 inch steel rod protruding from his leg into his shoulder created massive amounts of scar tissue. We immediately had the rod removed and he has healed wonderfully. He has made a terrific addition to our family here at Forever Wild and we look forward to giving him the opportunity to have the rest of surgeries so that he can live a very happy and long life.
