Tequila Yellow-Naped Amazon

Tequila was brought to Forever Wild shortly after the Makeover in March of 2009 by his owners because he was a biter and they were expecting a new baby. He had become quite attached to the husband and would even bite him if anyone came to close. For the safety of both the family and Tequila they felt that Forever Wild would be a much better fit for this wonderful bird.

We have learned the he is well a firecracker. He is definately a biter, he has gotten several of the keepers while they were trying to clean his cage. He seems to be a happy bird and just wants to show us he is a big boy.  We will continue to love him no matter what he doe's. Tequila has a forever home here at Forever Wild.

Deforestation is reducing the number of these parrots in the wild together with illegal removal of young for the pet trade. This parrot readily mimics sounds, and in captivity this includes human speech, which is probably the reason it is popular in the pet trade. Like all parrots, however, mimic abilities vary greatly between individuals and species.  wikipedia.org
